Have email security funded by the federal government

Since the beginning of the year, the federal government, the federal states and hospital operators have made 4.3 billion euros available for the modernisation of hospitals within the framework of the Hospital Future Act (Krankenhauszukunftsgesetz, KHZG). Of this, 645 million euros must be invested in more IT security. So it’s a good time to protect your hospital against the dangers of malware, Trojans and the like.

A joint offer from Bechtle and Net at Work supports hospitals from the application for funds to the ongoing operation. Net at Work grants all hospitals special conditions for public clients for procurements supported by KHZG funds, regardless of legal form and sponsorship. According to a study by the BSI last year, many hospitals have a lot of catching up to do in the area of IT security. Reliable protection against the dangers of email communication is often at the top of their wish list, because attacks on email communication are becoming more and more professional and perfidious – and unfortunately more and more often lead to success. Up to now, the necessary budget, the acceptance of the users or the lack of resources for implementation and support have all too often been lacking. There is now a remedy for all three hurdles.

Budget can be easily applied for

The funds provided under the KHZG come at just the right time as a budget for the establishment of high-performance email security in hospitals to counter the ever-growing threat situation. The funding agencies require that 15% of the requested budget be used for information security measures in every funding application submitted. As a cross-sectional requirement, email security fits in with the vast majority of projects.

No funding without IT security

According to Section 14a, Paragraph 3, Sentence 5 of the KZHG, at least 15% of the funds applied for to support a given project must be used for measures to improve information security. Since email as a cross-sectional function runs through all areas, email security can be combined with almost any other modernisation project.

The race for the funds has started and they have to be applied for by the end of the year at the latest. Therefore, in addition to a perfect software solution, Bechtle and Net at Work also offer active and in-depth support in the application process for the KHZG funds. The expertise of the Bechtle consultants and corresponding planning models make it possible to determine the specific requirements and transfer them into a promising KHZG funding application, even without the tedious collection of details by the hospital IT. This relieves both the IT and the commercial management in the hospital.

Modern tools offer maximum user acceptance

NoSpamProxy is a comprehensive solution for email security that not only perfectly meets the special requirements of hospitals, but is also particularly user-friendly. The made-in-Germany product offers secure protection against spam, phishing and CEO fraud with state-of-the-art self-learning processes and ad-hoc protection against new threats through predictive swarm intelligence. The product takes into account the special requirements of the medical profession for external email communication – for example in research projects – by combining procedures for sender reputation and individual level-of-trust with fine-grained and automated control. Secure encryption of emails and an elegant mechanism for exchanging large files round off the solution. What is special about this is that for the user, all this happens largely hidden in the background andthe usere does not have to take care of it himself – an enormous advantage in the hectic daily hospital routine. This is one of the reasons why the product has been winning Techconsult’s independent user ranking for years, especially in the areas of user-friendliness and performance.

Relief for hospital IT

There is nothing the hospital IT team needs less than another application that requires maintenance-intensive administration. NoSpamProxy therefore virtually administers itself with a powerful and self-learning set of rules. The intensive use of AD groups and the completely automated certificate management for signature and encryption make the solutions efficient even in large and complex user landscapes with high fluctuation. The product and the service ‘Made in Germany’ are first-class.

„Net at Work has always been a very reliable partner. NoSpamProxy is one of the main pillars of our IT security architecture.“
Steven Alhorn, Team Lead IT Infrastructure at Herz- und Diabeteszentrum NRW in Bad Oeynhausen.

Of course, the solution can also be obtained as a cloud service. Those who prefer to place their email security in the experienced hands of security experts will find the perfect partner in Bechtle’s managed service offer. Bechtle is one of the three largest security integrators in Germany, with around 300 security specialists and broad experience in the hospital environment.

Unique combination of competencies for rapid utilisation of KHZG funds

By combining organisational and professional advice with technical services and a highly effective, user-friendly tool, hospitals can benefit from the KHZG funds at short notice and deploy future-proof and reliable email security.
