Cross-industry representative survey on the status of e-mail security in German companies
The spread of digital technologies in all areas of life confronts companies of all kinds in a variety of ways. Where on the one hand potentials such as the acceleration of process flows or location-independent collaboration are recognized, on the other hand growing risks are also found.
One of these risks can be found in the growing cybercrime and the associated damage to companies. The primary targets of cybercriminals are e-mail inboxes. Almost all internal and external communication is done via e-mail. But how important do companies consider the protection of their own e-mail inboxes? Where do they see an acute need for action in terms of e-mail security? And to whom do companies entrust the operation of e-mail security?
To answer these questions, this study surveyed 201 decision-makers or people significantly involved in the decision-making process on their assessment of email security, the need for action, but also the requirements for cloud-based email security. 201 employees from small to large companies from all industries took part in the survey in January 2022.
